New favorites

Just needed to share a few more recent pics. Cora loves her Lexington Fire Department helmet she got at school... and she and Tony spent some quality time this weekend out on the deck. They just don't look happy at all!

Ready to go...

Believe it or not... Cora did this to herself. She loves Tony's headlamp and then she decided to add my sunglasses and the binky for the final effect!

Halloween

We had a great time for Cora's first trick or treating experiences. She went as a white tiger cub, and only a few people called her a zebra! Her school went out on Friday and we took her to the Halloween fair at the high school on Saturday, and then to the VHC to watch Auntie Renata. She was a star throughout!

Pumpkin

Cora took a field trip - literally - to the pumpkin patch. The chosen pumpkin is home now, and ready to be carved!

Winter weather

With the arrival of cold weather, we have spent time outside stacking wood and tidying the garden. Cora decided to try out her winter gear... including new snow boots!

Football Sunday

Cora and Daddy have enjoyed some quality time together today. Quite a bit of it was spend watching football and enjoying some tasty snacks!

Chef's Assistant

Cora decided to take her complaint to the management when her brief employment as Chef's Assistant didn't include enough treats and sugary products!

Howdy Jack

Baby Jack came to visit! His visit brought about one "new" thing: Cora added the word "baby" to her vocabulary!

Welcome!

Mom's window cleaning gave Cora the opportunity she needed to play with the front door. Combine that with her Dad hanging out the front windows with a camera, and you get this.

Potty Time

Cora took delivery of a new potty, and proceeded to make a delivery of her own,...and it was on her first attempt!

New adventures

Cora has taken many steps onward and upward lately. She now eats at the counter while sitting in her booster seat...

And takes a bath in the big tub (with a little help)...

So far, so good!

Snack time with Daddy

Cora gravitates to anyone who has food, and she attempted to steal some of Daddy's peach cobbler the other day. I think she was expecting a few more spoonfuls to go her way, but Daddy did share in the end!

YBR picnic

We went to the Yellow Brick Road picnic on Friday night and had a great time. It was nice to see Cora on the playground and with the other kids. It was easy to see why she seems to be having such fun there! She showed off on her favorite climbing spot, and Daddy helped teach her how to go down the slide!

A Brave New World

Cora Spent some time at Pre-School last Friday with her Mom. Today was the first day flying solo. Both parents were present for a smooth take-off...

Cora and Daddy

Cora has spent a lot of time watching Daddy out the window in the past weeks while he labors to build our new deck. She loves to keep an eye on him! They have managed to spend some quality time together anyway!

Drying Off

A little fun drying off

Bath Time

Here's a post Cora will hate me for in years to come:

One of the few times you can put Cora down and reliably predict her destination is bath time. Cora loves bath time. Here's the ritual walk to the bathroom...

Sweetcorn

Cora gets some tips before chomping on some corn!

Independence Day!

We had an absolutely wonderful Independence Day weekend. Nana and Pop came to visit, as did Casey and Lawson. Cora played in the pool, enjoyed new toys, entertained everyone over enchiladas, and wowed the crowds at VMI. For the second year, she fell asleep during the fireworks... guess she didn't inherit the pyro gene from Mama and Dada!

Down with the English!

Making bread

Cora helped me make bread this afternoon. She loves to be up on the stool watching the action!

Fathers Day weekend 09

We made the trip to Charlotte for Father's Day weekend. It was great.

Pop and Cora checked out the crowds at the Friday night music at Blakeney.

Cora enjoyed the cake and ice cream... big surprise!

And helped Nana organize the laundry room!

Don't put me down!

Cora is talking a lot more, but still relies heavily on body language for communication. We think this maneuver means she doesn't want to be put down... hard to tell though!

The New Cora

Tony and I debated over which picture taken this weekend was the best. We decided on this one. It shows the (slightly) longer hair, the new and improved smile and the new teeth as well!

Camp Stephie

After arriving in Maryland on Sunday, Cora promptly began exploring everything and making repeat trips up and down the stairs. On Monday, her first full day at Camp Stephie was a doozy! A fall off the bed, another one down the stairs (only 2) and a smashed toe from the screen door... she recovered in good form, with only minor wailing. I think Steph and I were more traumatized than her! We are hoping she got all her bumps out of the way early!

The rest of the visit was much more smooth. We discovered the reason for some of the unpleasantness... a new tooth (her 10th)! We made a visit to the Calvert Marine Museum, spent some time playing in the river and Cora had a play date with both Claude and Steph in the toybox. We ended our visit with a great day on Wednesday. Thanks so much for everything!

Do you think they're related?

Spaghetti

Cora loves spaghetti... it gives her such a nice fake tan look!

Playing outside

The whole family has really enjoyed getting outside in our big new yard! Cora loves to walk and explore the grass. There is even a picture of her with a dandelion she picked!

Later that day...

The contents of Cora's basket became the source of lots of fun

Cora's Easter

We didn't think Cora would quite be up for an egg "hunt," so we made finding her Easter basket much easier...it was met with a wonderful squeal of delight which you can just hear...

Busy Busy March

March is full of birthdays for us, and we were up and down the roads all month. Every weekend was a party for someone's birthday!

We all enjoyed being in the newest Conway household in NC for Clare's second birthday. Cora especially enjoyed eating Clare's cake and playing in her new sandbox.

Then two weeks later, it was back down to Charlotte for Pop's birthday.

And then, Aunt Stephie came to visit when Auntie Renata and Uncle Casey were here. What a busy month!

Tickle monster

After many failed attempts to get a good shot of Cora in my lap... we resorted to tickling!

Cora vacuums

We have been training her!
We have really been enjoying the intermittent nice weather. We get outside whenever we can! On this day, Cora and Madelyn were enjoying exploring the grass and the stroller.

We are a little slow with these, but that's one of the downsides of no internet at home!

Cora's party went so well. Almost all the family was here, minus Uncle Beard, and Cora and Clare kept us all entertained. It was just great to have everyone together in our house. Thanks to everyone for a great year... especially to Cora!

A visit to C'Ville

Cora went to Charlottesville recently to hang out with Aunt Renata...she was a little groggy waking up from her nap

365

What a year it's been!

Cora Mae joined us exactly one year ago today, one year ago at this exact time, and what a year it has been!

Looking back through our pictures has been a lot of fun. We - of course - have hundreds of pictures of Cora, and each one has it's own special memory.

We'll get around to posting some pictures from Cora's birthday party in the next day or so, but we just wanted to say "Happy Birthday Cora!"

A year ago today

...I seem to recall a nervous post in anticipation of Cora's arrival. There had been an appointment with the Doctor to discuss what we would do if Cora didn't arrive on time. We settled on 2/22/08 as a good day to come in to be induced.

What a year
